I ran across this video on YouTube recently. It features the Kelly Mine in Magdalena, NM.
There is not a lot of talking in the video, but it does show the lay of the land near Magdalena.
Smithsonite was mined here into the 1930s. Before that, it was lead, zinc and copper.
I have personally visited this mine site and photographed some of the same structures that appear in this video. At some point, I’ll compile an article for the IA Journal or the Newsletter for this site, but it will take a back burner for right now.
Currently, there is a call for “Atomic IA” and I am thinking I will go back to the Trinity Site, where the first atomic bomb was tested. Once that project is finished, I’ll move on to the Kelly Mine.
