I took a few photos of some trains in Belen, NM, on my evening commute yesterday. Most of the photos are garbage, as I was looking directly into the sun, but I did see this red and silver BNSF engine (BNSF 4705):
Also, I witnessed a strange incident yesterday. On the NM Railrunner, we somehow hit the crossbar that blocks the road at a railroad crossing. I have no idea how this happened. I guess it stuck out into the railway just enough to hit it. It shattered, sending wood pieces everywhere. At our next stop, the security guard and one of the other railroad employees pulled a few remaining pieces from the front of the locomotive. The photo below shows a few of the broken pieces:
We paused for a minute or two, then left anyhow. It may have been repaired by this morning’s commute, but I forgot to look.
