I attended the American Institute for Chemical Engineering 2018 Student Conference (AIChE ’18) in Pittsburgh, PA last weekend. I brought along around 20 undergraduates and we had a great time.
I snapped a few cell phone photos around Pittsburgh, but not nearly as many as I would have liked to. There was a nor’easter in town, making the weather rainy and awful for the entire trip.
Pittsburgh is at the intersection of three rivers, or rather where two combine into a third river. There are many bridges over these rivers, and I would have loved to photograph all of them in detail.
I even managed to catch a Norfolk Southern Freight Train on the railroad bridge:
Downtown Pittsburgh was much nicer than I remember. It seems to get more scenic each time I pass through town.
There was a plaque dedicated to the first crude oil distillation column, which started the search for crude oil in the United States. This plaque was presented by the American Chemical Society.
Thank you for reading my post.
